OnLive Desktop for iPad Now Available
OnLive, famously known for it’s successful cloud-based game streaming service, is branching out into less recreational areas, starting with the OnLive Desktop app for iPads. The OnLive Desktop app essentially lets iPad users work with the full Windows 7 versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint directly from their iPad. It features 2 GBs of cloud storage for documents, support for multi-touch gestures, and more to come in the months ahead.
“OnLive Desktop is the first app to deliver a no-compromise, media-rich Windows desktop experience to iPad, opening up powerful new possibilities for consumers and businesses,” said OnLive CEO and Founder Steve Perlman. He then went on to elaborate where the future of the app. More Windows 7 applications and games are in the works for OnLive desktop.
Additionally, OnLive will offer both a “Desktop Pro” for $9.99/month and a “Desktop Enterprise” for which pricing has yet to be announced. Desktop Pro will feature 50 GBs of cloud storage, a full featured cloud-accelerated browser, more PC apps, and “other unique OnLive features”, while Enterprise will be more suited for businesses. Both of these services will utilize the same service the OnLive Arena runs on to allow group collaboration on documents, complete with live spectating and voice chat.
